The Basis is the result of 2 years of R&D
and hundreds of hours of listening.
The Purity Audio Design
"Basis" linestage is a two piece
"split chassis" design utilizing an external
power supply. The circuit is built around one 6SN7
dual triode per channel, Clarity Cap output capacitors and 1% metal film,
precision wirewound and carbon composition
resistors along with Elna Silmic cathode
bypass capacitors make up the circuitry.
The 'Basis' provides
a clean, linear, dynamic presentation with low
distortion using a SRPP circuit. If you have
never heard the virtues of a 6SN7 based
preamp, especially one designed by Purity
Audio Design, you do not know what you are
missing. Don't let
the affordable cost of the Basis fool you,
this is a piece that is very much at home in
the most elaborate audiophile systems.
The sound of
the Basis is a slightly warmer than pure
neutral, but it is still less colored than
many other tube linestage designs.
The Basis provides a dead quiet background allowing you to
enjoy and appreciate the finest nuances hidden within your
recordings.
This elegant design is a very low
maintenance product allowing you to spend
all your time enjoying the music.
The Basis features five
line level inputs as well as a passive Home
Theater bypass input. Two
sets of RCA outputs are perfect for bi-amping
or driving a powered subwoofer. A high
quality relay based selector switch handles the input
duties. Internal signal wire is solid
core Copper/Teflon of the highest quality.
Passive Home Theater Bypass - This features
allows the user to install the Basis
linestage in a dual purpose system where a
home theater or multi channel processor can
be connected. Being a passive bypass, the
Basis is not powered on when this feature is
in use.
The chassis for the Basis, both power supply
and analog circuit chassis is 100% acrylic.
The frosted uprights in combination with the
black and transparent chassis provides a
classy and elegant look for the Basis that
is a beautiful enhancement to any decor.
Connecting the two chassis' is an 18"- 24" custom
built umbilical cord that is hardwired into
the power supply chassis and connects to the
analog chassis via a high quality screw-on
connector.
For a complete matching system, The Basis
Amp is a perfect mate, both sonically and
aesthetically, to the Basis Pre.
The Basis can
be configured to run with the following mains voltages:
110V- 117V or 220V-240V. Primary voltages
are factory wired so let your dealer know
what voltage arrangement you need at time of
ordering.
With only two tubes, re-tubing or
tube rolling in the Basis Plus is easy and
affordable.
